JSNR2017 President's Welcome Message (English)

Presidential Address for "JSNR2017"

We will hold the 70th Congress of the Japan Society of Neurovegetative Research (JSNR) on August 31 and September 1, 2017, in WINC Aichi, Nagoya City, Japan. It is an honor for us that our 70th memorial congress can be held in conjunction with the Congress of the International Society for Autonomic Neuroscience (ISAN) between August 30 and September 2, 2017.

To account for the preferences of the participants in both ISAN 2017 and JSNR 2017, at JSNR we have organized five Symposia in English, in addition to four Symposia in Japanese. Even in the Symposia in Japanese, the presentation slides will be worded in English.

In addition, in the JSNR 2017 Congress there will be four Special Lectures, which will be given by Prof. Giorgio Gabella, Prof. Tadaaki Mano, Prof. Yukio Ando, and Prof Yoshiyuki Kuroiwa. Dr. Giorgio Gabella, Emeritus Professor at University College London, will give a lecture on smooth muscles and their nerves. Dr. Tadaaki Mano, President of Gifu Medical Science University, will talk about the history of autonomic neuroscience research in Japan. Dr. Yukio Ando, Chairman of Neurology at Kumamoto University School of Medicine, will speak on familial amyloid neuropathy and autonomic dysfunction. Professor Yoshiyuki Kuroiwa, Chairman of the Executive Board of JSNR and President of the Local Organizing Committee for ISAN 2017, will give a lecture on the circumventricular organ dysregulation syndrome.

On this special occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to Prof. Gabella for his help to our Society. For over 30 years, since the time when the late Prof. Akio Sato, my former adviser in research, was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal, Giorgio has helped with the editing of our abstracts in English, some of which are also published in Autonomic Neuroscience: Basic & Clinical.

Finally, I would like to thank Prof. Yoshiyuki Kuroiwa, Prof. Masashi Yoneda, Vice-President of the JSNR 2017 Congress, and the members in the Local Organizing Committee of ISAN 2017 & JSNR 2017 for their continuous support.

I look forward to our Conference and extend my warmest welcome to everybody, wishing you all - at JSNR 2017 and ISAN 2107 - a friendly and rewarding time together.

Thank you very much.
